For me, I would like my children to be TEACHABLE when they are grown; willing and open to learn whatever comes their way in this changing world, and to be OPTIMISTIC; mind over matter is a powerful thing. Like any mother, I want my children to have many positive qualities, but I asked a fellow group of child bloggers to give me just two qualities they hope to see in their children someday. The collective results reflect what's really important when it comes to raising our kids.

What's noteworthy in this list is what isn't included! No one identified qualities such as genius or affluence. These parents just want their children to be good to themselves and to others once they are grown. These are end goals, the things that we should focus on and try to remember when we begin to worry too much about temporary goals, such as how many letters they know, or their ability to identify colors. These blogs reflect their end goals through the activities and lessons learned that they choose to write about, not always explicitly, but in a way that draws us to why we read them, because we all want our children to grow up with admirable qualities.

ReplyDeleteThank you! I feel forward thinking is part of our parenting process!
DeleteFabulous job on this post!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI love this post. It's fun to see how all of us answered differently --- but so many of us added something about creativity in there too! Thank you for including us!
ReplyDeleteThis what always happens, when I ask this question. It's so neat to see the results every time. With all the different ways we go about raising our children, we want many of the same things.
DeleteWhat a great reminder to keep those end goals in mind as we are raising our little ones. I just love the picture at the end ~ and the quote! Thanks for including us!
ReplyDeletewhat a great message. I love this - I'm featuring it on The Sunday Parenting Party this weekend.
